White Lives Don’t Matter

Admitted … the headline is a bit of hyperbole, maybe even provocative.  But It is to make a legitimate point.  It has to do with the murder spree in Georgia.  By any measure, it is a horrific and tragic event.  Whatever motivated the shooter only provides context to a very sick and evil person. Although six of the victims were Asian, the shooter’s own confession – as reported by the police – suggests that he was not racially motivated.  Rather, it was an act of irrational rage against those who…

Native American Joins Cabinet, Media Loses It

Congresswoman Deb Haaland of New Mexico, has now been confirmed as the new Secretary of the Interior.  That makes her the first Native American to serve in the Cabinet. However, she is not the highest ranking Native American in our national government.  That honor goes to Republican Charles Curtis, who served as Vice President of the United States under President Hoover.  He was a member of the Kaw nation.  I am not sure if Mrs. Woodrow Wilson counts. She claimed Indian princess status as a direct descendant of Pocahontas.  And…

Jesuits Offer $100 Million in Slavery Reparations

The Catholic Society of Jesus (Jesuits) are putting up an astounding $100 million to be paid in the form of reparations for the slaves the religious order once owned.  The “settlement” involves the descendants of slaves the Jesuits sold in 1838.  At the time of the sale, the Jesuits had relied on slave labor for more than 100 years – buying and selling in the slave markets as was the practice at the time. Slaves were used in virtually all aspects of religious life – from attending to clergy, day-to-day…

California Bill Would Ban Police Officers That Express Religious Or Conservative Views

The California State Assembly has introduced a new bill that would ban police officers who have made public comments supporting religious or conservative views. Those who proposed the bill say it simply removes officers who have engaged in “hate speech” or are affiliated with a “hate group.” But the strategic way the bill is written would cause many officers to lose their jobs or be prohibited from serving, simply for stating their religious or conservative beliefs. State Rep. Ash Kalra (D-San Jose) introduced the bill. She deceptively named it the…

Texas Deploys National Guard to Help at Border

Texas Governor Greg Abbott (R) is sending 500 National Guard troops and 1,200 state police officers to assist border patrol agents as they struggle to manage an influx of migrants.  “We will work to step up and try to fill the gap that the federal government is leaving open by making sure we deploy every resource, whether it be Department of Public Safety or Texas National Guard, whatever we need to do,” said Abbott Tuesday during a press conference in Mission. “Texas is going to fight for the safety and…

Has Biden Created the Worst Border Crisis Ever?

The US-Mexico border is overrun with migrants seeking to enter the country now that Joe Biden is president. “The Biden Admin. has created a disaster on the border,” tweeted Texas Governor Greg Abbott (R). “Record 3,200 migrant children stuck in Border Patrol custody + many who are not children. The federal government must fix this immediately.” Without adequate housing, border patrol officials have been forced to hold unaccompanied minors in cells meant for adults. Up to 90% of them don’t have beds to sleep in (imagine what the Dems would…

When completed, the ILRS will be used for activities such as: “lunar exploration and utilization, lunar-based observation, basic scientific experiment, and…

Did This FBI Director Lie Under Oath?

The issue of the day seems to be the BIG LIES.  In all my years of commenting on public policy and politics, I find today’s environment to be the most fraught with false narratives.  The problem is exacerbated by a divided and emotionally charged public willing to believe the narratives offered by their side. What is particularly frustrating is that those in the public eye who we look to for honesty and objectivity do not seem to exist.  The statements presented on both sides of the political divide are diametrically…
